What is Hijab?

Hijab is more than what you put on your head,
Hijab isn't a peace of cloth or an expensive Sheila,
It isn't the way it matches with your purse,
It isn't what those Turkish models are sporting this season,
It isn't even the way you wrap it around your head,

Hijab is more than what you put on your head,
It's putting away those clingy tank-tops and going for that long sleeved shirt,
Or maybe even that hoody in 90 degree heat,
Pushing aside those mini skirts,
And putting those short-shorts on the back drawer,
While adopting for those wide legged jeans,
Hijab maybe putting on an Abaya or a Jilbab,

Hijab is more than what you wear,
Hijab is what you choose to verbalise,
Hijab is who you decide to hang out with,
Hijab is more than modesty of the body,
Hijab is a concept and a way of life.
